Banana Nut Bread

1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup mashed banana
1/2 cup walnuts

Heat oven to 350 F. Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with mashed banana, blending well after each addition. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Remove from pan, and cool on rack.
